PRACTITIONER
Toni Hiett
My fitness journey began as a child; my mom would bring me and my sisters to the gym as she worked out. I have wanted to be a personal trainer for as long as I can remember. My adult career started in the US Army, where I learned the importance of holistic health and fitness in maintaining peak performance. I went to personal training school and got a Bachelor's in Sports Medicine during that period. I have served over 16 years in the US Army, serving in multiple roles, the last one being Holistic Health and Fitness Program coordinator for the Army Reserves.
Like many people, my journey to Functional Patterns started off with chronic low back pain and years of plantar fasciitis. My education in corrective exercise and seeing a physical therapist wasn't cutting the pain relief. My pain was so bothersome it made it hard to do daily skills and able to perform as a Soldier. I went down the YouTube rabbit hole and found functional patterns. I reached out to a practitioner near me, and after five sessions, my foot and lower back pain were gone. The unique approach of Functional Patterns, focusing on correcting movement patterns and improving body alignment, was the key to my relief. After that experience, I knew functional patterns were the way I wanted to train my clients.
It is amazing to be able to train others and myself in Functional Patterns. I've seen clients who, like me, struggled with chronic pain, find relief and regain their mobility through this training. Helping people move and feel better translates into every aspect of their lives, and these personal victories are what keep me passionate about Functional Patterns.
