JARROD FRESHOUR
My approach to fitness is straightforward – finding joy in the activities I love: soccer, the great outdoors, and, most importantly, keeping up with my boys, Conger and Nathaniel. I aim to maintain my physical capability and health for decades to come and reject the idea that pain is a normal part of life.
Several years back, many assumed I had no physical issues due to my profession. They were mistaken. At 13, I was diagnosed with disc compression from T12-L3. The doctor dubbed my back "normal for a 60-year-old" and advised me to "keep it strong." Throughout my teenage years, I played three sports, wore braces on ankles, knees, and a back brace – earning me the nickname "Robocop."
These experiences reshaped my view on fitness and well-being. Fast forward 15 years, including college football and competitive soccer. Despite lifting weights, I faced challenges like dislocating ribs and a hip shift while squatting, leading to neck discomfort and hip pain. Shortly after discovering Functional Patterns and leaving behind my 10 year career in the traditional fitness industry, my hip and shoulder issues resolved. I've been doing Functional Patterns for 7 years, and I've enhanced my athleticism in soccer and many other sports, maintaining muscle mass and body composition. While there's more work ahead, I'm thrilled about the journey and the newfound freedom within my body.
